Leon's Place
The Hotel
Leon’s Place is the latest city hotel to be opened by hotelphilosophy and member of DesignHotels. Set in a glamorous palace dating back to the 1800's. The exterior is that of a palace, but inside, urban design.
After many years of neglect, Leon’s Place has been totally reinvented. Breaking with modern hotel tradition, no attempt was made to recreate its past glories, but instead Leon’s has a modern contemporary feel, blending polished marble floors with bright art deco style lighting and dark furnishings and curtains. For those looking for a break from modern concrete and glass hotels or dated Palace style hotels, Leon’s Place is a fresh alternative.
With just fifty-six rooms including three Junior Suites, Leon’s is not large for a city hotel. The rooms are all very modern and comfortably fitted out and some have balconies. Other facilities include the Visionnaire Cafè, which serves delicious aperitifs or cocktails and light meals. There is also a Wellness Point with massages room, Sauna, Steam Bath, Gym and Jacuzzi.
Rome is a walking city and Leon’s Place is ideally situated to take in all the sights from the Spanish Steps to the Trevi Fountain and the Coliseum. It’s also perfect for those in search of a little retail therapy or one of Rome’s many excellent restaurants.
For couples thinking of getting married or honeymooning in Rome, Leon’s Place offers the perfect setting. Weddings are such a personal and special event in a couples life, you cannot buy an ‘off the shelf package’. So whilst the basics may have a common thread, couples marrying here discuss their plans with our Wedding co-ordinator, who fashions the couple’s dreams into the special day.

Getting to Rome and getting around when you’re there:
From the UK British Airways (www.BA.com) fly from Gatwick or Heathrow. Alitalia flies from Heathrow (www.alitalia.com) Easyjet fly from Gatwick (www.easyjet.com). Ryanair flies from Stanstead, East Midlands, Liverpool, Glasgow and Edinburgh(www.ryanair.com). Jet2 flies from Leeds/Bradford and Manchester (www.jet2.com)
Rome is best seen on foot or by organised sightseeing tour be it private car or bus. The public transport system includes an underground system as well as plenty of taxis and buses. Except for the brave, car hire is probably best left to the Italians. From the airport there are rail bus and taxi services. By road the journey to Leon’s Place takes approximately 40 minutes and costs approximately £40 each way.

Activities and facilities
Visionnaire Cafè
When staying in the heart of one of the dining capitals of the world it would perhaps be foolish to not dine out and sample some of the best Italy has to offer. But if it is something light to eat you’re looking for, be sure to stop at the Visionnaire Cafè, Leon’s Place’s own cocktail bar which is fast becoming one the places to be seen in Rome. With its counter decorated with silver mosaics that reflect an explosion of light, the lamps, the spotlights and mirrored walls in the lounge area the style is very special.
Activities for the Lounger
People don’t come to the Eternal City to lounge, but after the exertions of seeing all Rome has to offer, a visit to the hotels wellness centre may be in order. Massages are available. There is also a sauna, Turkish bath and whirlpool bath.
Activities for the Active
There is a small gym in the hotel, but the main activity will be taking in the sights which with the hotel’s central location makes many accessible by foot. Private and public tours with English speaking guides can be organised by the hotel. If you are travelling during the height of the season, you may wish to consider pre-booking a guide.
The Rooms
Being a historical city centre hotel individual rooms will vary in shape and size within each category. Many have a City view and others have an inner courtyard view and these tend to be quieter. Some rooms can accommodate an extra bed and there also some smoking rooms available.
All the rooms have independent air conditioning/heating, satellite LCD TVs, high speed internet access, mini-bars and in room safes. The contemporary design throughout relies on greys and opaque blacks and lots of mirrors. The bathrooms are fitted in marble with a bath or shower, hairdryer, bathrobe and slippers.

Weddings and Honeymoons
Italy is the land of romance, wine and song and contrary to popular belief non nationals can get married here.
Weddings are such a personal and special event in a couples life, you cannot buy an ‘off the shelf package’.
